Andrew's birthday party

We had Andrew's birthday party last weekend.  We had been talking about it for about 2 weeks before hand, so Alexis was so happy when it was finally the big day!  She kept talking about how all her friends were going to come.  She had so much fun with her friends and cousins!  I think Andrew had fun too... especially eating cake!!!  Again, I didn't get very many pictures but here are a few:
(not included is all the wonderful food provided by Albert's parents and his cousin Camille... pork kabobs, pancit, macaroni salad, flan and turon. Also, all the hard work on the fruit on sticks and blowing up balloons my friend Christina helped me with.  I can't believe I didn't get a picture.  Oh, and all the wonderful people who came... THANK YOU!!)

(big thanks to Grandma for making Elmo, Oscar and Cookie Monster)

I couldn't have done it without the help of my wonderful friend Christina and both of our parents!  Thank you so much!!!  Next party will be at a restaurant :)

Look who's 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Andrew Hudson!!!

He is normally very happy, smiley and easy-going, but this morning was a different story :(
We took him to the doctor for his 1 year check-up and as soon as the tech walked in the room, he must have sensed what was coming.  He was petrified and cried hysterically until we were done and back in the waiting room, which was probably around 15 minutes!  I felt like I was wrestling an alligator trying to hold him down on the table.  He wouldn't even let go of me to sit on the scale.  I have never seen him so scared and never seen him cry like that!  Even the doctor said she remembered how laid back he normally is.  It didn't help that the 1st thing they did was prick his finger to check his hemoglobin.  Either way, he checked out great and he doesn't have to go back for another 3 months.

Weight: 24 lbs, 15 oz  ~  75th percentile
Height: 30.5 inches  ~  75th percentile
Head:  18.5 inches  ~  ?th percentile (the screams were too loud and I couldn't hear)
Hemoglobin: 13.6

We gave Andrew his 1st taste of milk today with his lunch and will continue to transition him over this week.  The doctor wants him to be bottle-free by the next appointment and I'm certain that will be done... hopefully in the next month.

Look at all his band-aids!!!  He got 3 shots today in his legs and the one on his head is from a fall last week outside on the patio.  Then he pulled a plant stand down on top of himself yesterday and it re-opened the old wound.  I was hoping it would be healed by his big party this weekend but now it won't for sure.  Oh well, it doesn't seem to bother him... just me :)

no nap = more play time and early to bed!

I'm not sure what happened but Alexis decided that she no longer needs a nap!  For almost a week now, she has refused to take an afternoon nap.  She normally sleeps between 2-3 hours daily so I'm not sure how she can just go cold turkey!  I've tried everything and she just won't sleep.  This has led to early bedtimes though which I'm not complaining about!!  She has been falling asleep anywhere between 6pm and 8pm and wakes up between 7am and 8am.  She is so exhausted at the end of the day that she has been asking for her milk and to go to bed!  Andrew usually goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 so it has been really nice getting a couple hours to myself!

I know summer isn't going to last forever so I let Andrew open his birthday present from Grandma and Papa about a week early so him and Alexis could have some playing time!  Turns out they love it-- no surprise there!  They love anything to do with water.  They would stay in the bathtub for hours if I let them.  Getting Andrew out of the tub ends in a crying tantrum every time!!

Finally a smile from my little mermaid!

She spent the whole afternoon pouring water from one cup into another!
(when she was supposed to be napping)

Andrew got a surprise visit from his friends Elmo and Big Bird this past weekend!

Grandma and Papa came to play and brought some new friends!  Poor guy has been teething big time lately and decided Big Bird was a pretty good chew toy!

He loves to give kisses!  He can blow kisses but still loves to give big wet ones too-- slobber and all!

This is what I got when I told him to smile!
Silly boy!!

fun at the fair

We went to the Kendall County fair today.  Alexis had so much fun riding the rides and looking at the animals!  Andrew was too little for the rides but he loved the animals too!  We didn't get too many pictures of the food but I think that was Andrew's favorite part :)  He had a little bit of each of these: corn dog, curly fries, corn on the cob, watermelon and grapes!
