A few new "firsts"

Alexis will turn 7 months old tomorrow! She growing so fast and becoming quite a little lady.... soon to be a crawling little lady! I have realized things are about to change. No longer can we just sit her down to play, run to the next room for a couple of minutes and come back to her sitting in that same spot playing. We are going to have to start shopping for gates and baby-proofing the house. It excites me but just reminds me that my little baby is growing up!!

She's trying so hard....

but just can't get it down yet. She get so frustrated!!

She barely let me but I quickly managed to get some pig tails in her hair for the 1st time!

Last weekend, Albert, Alexis & I took a mini weekend "vacation" to Springfield. It was our first weekend off work together since I went back to work 4 months ago! It was so relaxing and we had a great time with good friends!

All the babes lined up for pictures, however Alexis did not like the grass so we didn't get anymore pictures :(

1st ride on a boat

she lasted about 5 minutes before she was asleep... just like car rides

a big thumbs up to this vacation :)

back home......

she's now eating rice, oatmeal, bananas, sweet potatoes, squash, pears, applesauce.... and she LOVES prune juice!

we tried a new thai/japanese restaurant we found
this morning on our walk downtown naperville

It was the first time Alexis has sat in a highchair at a restaurant and she loved it!

Alexis trying out chopsticks for the 1st time

we got home and she practiced some more....

Getting out...

Summer is going so quickly and I feel like I haven't done anything! I am going to try and savour this last month or so of warm weather and enjoy it more before the dreaded winter comes and won't be able to do much. I just feel like I can't go anywhere because I'm always thinking... What if Alexis needs to eat? What if she needs to take a nap? What if she wants held and I'm the only one with her out shopping and I can't push the cart and hold her at the same time? I feel like I will be a bad mom if she doesn't get her nap at the right time or if she's 15 minutes late in eating. I know she will be fine but it's always in the back of my mind. I really need to get out for my own sanity because I am starting to get just a bit crazy!! It's just so hard with Albert and I working opposite schedules because we never have time to do things together... but we are so lucky we don't have to worry about daycare or sitters. Sooo.... my goal for the rest of the summer is to get out more and enjoy life!!

Two weekends ago Alexis and I took a trip back home to visit my family while Albert went to California for a week to visit his. It was great to see everyone! I even made a little money at my mom's garage sale by selling my clothes I can't fit into anymore. Here are a few pics from our visit... just a few though as I always forget to get my camera out!

Here's some pictures from today....

keeping busy playing while I made lunch

Her new thing is to shake her head "no" and stick
out her tongue.... it's so cute!

As part of our "getting out more," Alexis and I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood this afternoon since it's not so hot like last week.

She doesn't like riding in her carseat anymore since she likes to sit up so we sit her up in the stroller and she loves it!

The picture below cracks me up... looks like a little old lady!!

After a couple of laps around the neighborhood, she was doing so well just looking around and I was enjoying the sun and soaking in the vitamin D. I decided to walk across the street to Dunkin Donuts for an iced coffee, my new favorite. By the time we got there, she was asleep. Everyone in the store commented on how "beautiful" she was.

She looks so big in the picture below.... my little baby is growing up!!

It's been over an hour since we've been home and she's still sleeping.... I think I'll take a little nap too :)
