My sweet little baby turned 8 months old today!!! Wow- time is just flying! It seriously seems like last week I brought her home from the hospital and look at her now! She is growing so fast and turning into a beautiful, smart & funny little girl. She is learning new things everyday. Just this morning while I was washing dishes I looked over and she was STANDING up! She had pulled herself up on a woven box we keep her toys in. She has been pulling herself up in her crib for a little over a week so we had to lower the mattress in her crib to the lowest it goes. I feel like she is much safer now but it is so hard to lay her down in it because I can't reach the bottom without feeling like I'm going to fall in myself. I didn't think I was that short but I guess I am. It's a challenge when she is sleeping to try and get her in without waking her up.
For the past couple of weeks, Alexis has been waking up in middle of the night. I thought it was strange because she's been sleeping through the night, without waking up at all, since she was 9 weeks old. I don't know if she's teething (I feel like I blame everything on teething even though she doesn't have any teeth yet :) or what is causing it. It seems like ever since she has been able to roll over on her belly, get up on all 4's and move around, she has been waking up. The book I'm reading says babies wake up in the night to practice crawling and pulling themselves up. Really? Why do they need to practice in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping? We have also been battling a bad case of eczema on her face since she was a little over 6 months old so maybe that is it? She wakes up, sits or stands up half asleep and cries. She will rarely go back to sleep without me picking her up and holding her for a couple of minutes before she falls back to sleep. Hopefully this won't last very long.
She still loves to put everything in her mouth. A few of her favorites include: paper, TV remotes, kleenex, cords, anything with a tag and books. Her favorite foods are sweet potatoes, squash, avacado & she just tried corn (pureed of course) for the first time yesterday and loved
it :) She has been eating crackers for a little over a week now and has been doing great.
She's still in size 3 diapers and is wearing some 12 months clothes, but mostly 18-24 months for the length. When I bought them, I was thinking they would be a little big but would fit by the end of winter-- but they fit perfect now!
Here's some pictures from today!
So this is how she does it!
This is the 2nd time today she pulled herself up to stand and look in the box!
Getting messy eating a cracker!
Look out world, here I come !! Crawling on her hands and feet just like her Mommy did !
